How To Take a Screenshot on a Chromebook

It’s easy to take screenshots with your Chromebook, but did you know that you can tweak and refine the process to fit your requirements? Here’s how to get the most out of the screenshot feature on your Chromebook, whether you’re an expert productivity user or just a casual user.

1. Personalise Your Keyboard Shortcuts

Customising your shortcut keys will help you get to your screenshots even faster if you find yourself doing so regularly.

To modify the shortcut keys:
Navigate to Settings.
Navigate to “Device” and choose “Keyboard.”
For “Custom shortcuts,” select “Add” and enter the combination of shortcuts you want.
To take full-screen screenshots, for instance, you may set Ctrl + Alt + S, and to take partial-screen screenshots, Ctrl + Alt + D.

2. Make use of the Toolbar for Screen Capture.

There are handy features in the Screen Capture Toolbar for taking screenshots and making films. However, did you realise that it is also customisable?

Personalise the Toolbar:
Click the gear icon once you’ve used Shift + Ctrl + Show Windows to open the toolbar.
Turn features like “Record microphone” on and off to capture videos.
Adapt the settings to suit your needs.

3. Make File Saving Locations Optimised

Screenshots are automatically stored in the Downloads folder. You can, however, adjust this to a place that is more convenient for you.

Use the Shift + Ctrl + Show Windows shortcut to modify the save location.
Click Settings, then choose “Select folder.”
Select the folder that you wish to use to store your screenshots.

4. Control Past Clipboard Documents

A clipboard manager is available in Chrome OS, which is useful for quickly accessing recently taken screenshots and copied things.

Retrieve the Clipboard History:
Any field can be selected with a right-click, then “Clipboard.”
As an alternative, you can see the last five stored items by pressing the Search Key + V.

5. Examine Other Approaches

There are choices if certain keys are missing from your Chromebook or if you would rather use a different approach.

Other Approaches:
Utilising an external keyboard, press the Print Screen key.
To find “screenshot” on the app launcher, use the Search key.

6. Examine Your Storage Options

Are you running out of storage space? To archive your screenshots, look into cloud storage services or external storage options.

Invest in SD cards, flash drives, or external hard drives as storage options.
Make use of cloud storage options such as Google Cloud or Drive.
You can organise your workflow and make taking and organising screenshots easy by personalising the screenshot experience on your Chromebook and investigating different approaches.
